Hi V: Thanks so much for taking the time to share your reflection on a recent discussion on agnotology. If we are committed to the life of the mind (as teachers, parents, writers, researchers, lifelong learners, etc.) we must begin with the profound humility that we don't know everything. Recall the the variant of a well-known Socratic dictum: "The more you know, the more you realize you know nothing." Fortunately, Medium is a platform where curious people come to learn and share ideas in a respectful way. As a teacher and lifelong learner you have made a wonderful contribution to this discussion (appreciated by 51 people at this writing!): by pointing out what a teachable moment should look like and that it can inspire a culture of understanding and mutual respect in a world where discordant, rude, and disrespectful exchanges are promoted because they generate clicks, and thus, more money.
